Northumberland was everything Gillian Lee Smith said it would be and more. Just spectacular. Castles, ruins, vast green fields, history and beauty everywhere. We will definitely be back.

Alnwick Castle and Garden was spectacular, especially the garden that the Duchess had designed using the original plans. It’s amazing how far the gardens have come in such a relatively short time (12 years). While we were there, she was giving a tour to some VIPs. Especially interesting was the Poison Garden.

We were not allowed to take pictures inside the castle but we were able to see where they live.
