Exploring Abstraction, Acrylic Techniques and Materials

Imagine sitting in the breeze wafting up from the ocean as you listen to the very talented artist Judy Wise explain how to create this beautiful painting below. Then after class, either dipping into that big beautiful ocean, or in two of the pools on site. Doesn't that feel good?! Oh and wait, we have this beautiful B&B all to ourselves. Yes, it's going to be blissful.

Let's put our heads together and explore the rich possibilities of acrylic painting, abstraction, and the many techniques you can use that you may not have discovered. Besides lift and layering techniques, we will experiment with textural additives, unusual tools for paint application, and a myriad of techniques for starting your paintings.

Big. Big, Destroyed by Judy Wise

This trip has been cancelled.

The location for this workshop is Playa Zipolite located on the southern coast of Oaxaca.

Some visitors may find Zipolite too small, isolated, or unsophisticated. Others come once and are hooked. They become part of a loyal following of travelers who return every year attracted by the rustic, unspoiled setting. It is still very much an authentic Mexican beach town which is great for visitors who really want to be in Mexico
— Casa Sol Zipolite

Our friends, Jorge Silva and Craig Hudson from Mexico City (Owners of The Red Tree House), have created another stunning venue, this time in the sleepy little town of Playa Zipolite along the Oaxacan coast in Mexico. It's a haven for relaxation and for us, a stunning place in which to create. As in their B&B in Mexico City, this venue is loaded with art created by some familiar artists from Mexico City. Thank you Jorge and Craig for sharing this with us. We can't wait!
